The original Proxy made an argument that nobody in the category had made this plainly: the vaporizer is not the device, it is the heat source. Everything else — the body, the bubbler, the glass someone spent forty hours on — is interchangeable. Four years later that argument has held up better than most of the hardware released alongside it.
The Core is the follow-through. Same detachable format, same universal joint, but the heating stack has been rebuilt around a shorter ramp and a flatter curve. In practice that means the first draw arrives sooner and the fourth tastes like the first, which is the part that always separated a good session device from a spec sheet.
What actually changed
Three things worth caring about. The chamber is smaller, so a single load runs closer to a real dose than a full-bowl commitment. The ramp is faster — under fifteen seconds to temperature from cold, roughly half of what the first generation needed. And the whole unit charges over USB-C, which should have been true from the start.
Portability was never the constraint. Getting a portable to taste like a rig was the constraint.

What hasn't changed is the reason people bought into the platform. The joint is the same, the fitment is the same, and every Proxy body, travel pipe, and artist-made attachment in circulation still works. For a category that reinvents its connector every eighteen months, that restraint is the most valuable thing in the box.
Who it's for
If you already run a Proxy, the Core is a heat-source upgrade rather than a new device — keep the glass, swap the half that does the work. If you don't, this is the cleanest entry point the platform has had, and the one most likely to survive whatever the next release changes.
