eRig
An eRig is an electronic dab rig that heats concentrates using a built-in battery and precise temperature control. No torch needed. You set your temperature, wait for it to heat, apply your concentrate, and go.
Key features:
- Battery-powered electronic heating
- Precise temperature control (often to the degree)
- No torch required — safer and more convenient
- Consistent temperature throughout your session
- Portable designs for on-the-go use
Temperature precision is the main advantage over traditional torch setups. You select your exact temperature, the device heats to that point and maintains it, giving you repeatable results every session. Lower temps (450-550°F) preserve flavor and prevent scorching delicate terpenes Higher temps (600-650°F) deliver denser vapor with more immediate effects. Once you find your sweet spot, you can hit it consistently.
The heating element (usually called an atomizer or chamber) is typically ceramic, quartz, or a combination. Ceramic heats evenly and preserves flavor exceptionally well. Quartz offers the purest taste and faster heat-up times. Both are significant upgrades over coil-based heating in terms of flavor and experience. Chambers are replaceable when they wear out from extended use.
Battery life varies by model and usage. Most eRigs deliver 20-40 sessions per charge depending on temperature settings and session length. Higher temperatures drain batteries faster. Quality models include pass-through charging (use while plugged in) and USB-C for faster charging times. Some advanced models include app connectivity for custom temperature profiles and session tracking.
Building your eRig setup: The eRig itself is your primary tool, but you'll want some accessories. A carb cap (often included) improves vaporization efficiency — some eRigs include custom caps designed for their chambers. Terp pearls enhance heat distribution. A dab tool is used for loading concentrates into the chamber. Keep cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol on hand for cleaning the chamber between sessions — regular maintenance preserves flavor and extends the life of the atomizer. A travel case protects your eRig if you're taking it places. Extra atomizers or chambers are worth having since they're consumable parts that eventually need replacement. Some people keep multiple atomizers so they can swap between concentrate types without flavor mixing.
